Also known as the Old English Mastiff, these dogs are one of the heaviest breeds. Perfect for the rolling countryside of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virgina. Male Mastiffs can exceed 200 lbs. and stand as tall as 34″-36″ at the shoulder, not very useful if you have a Riverfront Condo in Downtown Cincinnati. The females are usually somewhat smaller. They are very powerful, massive and muscular, but gentle with children playing in the Kentucky blue grass that blesses our region. English Mastiffs are intelligent ,gentle giants, that require virtually no grooming. English Mastiff’s are confident and watchful but patient with a gentle nature towards family and children. Coat colors are varying shades of fawn, brindle or apricot.
